INTERLIBRARY LOAN

General Information

What is Interlibrary Loan (ILL)?

Interlibrary Loan is a service offered by Savage Library that allows library users to borrow books, media and articles not found at Savage Library or regional partner libraries (Prospector & Marmot). ILL library staff take your request and scour libraries worldwide to find potential lenders.

Please check Western resources before submitting an ILL request as we may have exactly what you are looking for.

ILL Borrower Responsibilities:

  • Do not remove the paperwork (book strap) from your loan.
  • Return borrowed material on time and in the condition it was given to you.
  • Observe any special conditions set for use of borrowed material by the lending institution. Special instructions are indicated on the book strap and may include: a) Library Use Only; b) Photocopying Not Allowed; c) No Renewals, etc.
  • Remember: you are liable for any lost or damaged material. If you loan borrowed material to someone else, you are still responsible for getting it back to the library on-time.

Request Form Instructions

Use the form to request articles from journals, newspapers, etc. that are not available in the Leslie J. Savage Library databases or Google Scholar

Please allow 7 - 10 days for processing & delivery. Often your requested article will simply be forwarded to the email you provide in the form. If this is not possible, you will be notified when the item has arrived and we will hold it at the circulation desk for you.

When filling out this form:

  • Please fill out the form as completely as possible for best results.
  • You must have a current Leslie J. Savage Library card.
  • Please check OneSearch, particularly Journal Finder before completing this form; the library may have access to the journal or newspaper you are seeking.
  • Use a separate form for each request.

Due to limited staffing, we ask that you request a maximum of five (5) items per day.  Requests of an academic nature have first priority and will be processed before leisure items.
