General Information
Interlibrary Loan is a service offered by Savage Library that allows library users to borrow books, media and articles not found at Savage Library or regional partner libraries (Prospector & Marmot). ILL library staff take your request and scour libraries worldwide to find potential lenders.
Please check Western resources before submitting an ILL request as we may have exactly what you are looking for.
Use the form to request articles from journals, newspapers, etc. that are not available in the Leslie J. Savage Library databases or Google Scholar.
Please allow 7 - 10 days for processing & delivery. Often your requested article will simply be forwarded to the email you provide in the form. If this is not possible, you will be notified when the item has arrived and we will hold it at the circulation desk for you.
When filling out this form:
Due to limited staffing, we ask that you request a maximum of five (5) items per day. Requests of an academic nature have first priority and will be processed before leisure items.
Off-campus students, please contact Andrea Brown (libraryloans@western.edu) to discuss options for access to library-held materials.
The copyright law of the United States (Title 17, United States Code), governs the making of photocopies or other reproductions of copyrighted material.
Under certain conditions specified in the law, libraries and archives are authorized to furnish a photocopy or other reproductions. One of these specified conditions is that the photocopy or reproduction is not to be "used for any purpose other than private study, scholarship or research." If a user makes a request for, or later uses, a photocopy or reproduction for purposes in excess of "fair use," that user may be liable for copyright infringement.
