Open Educational Resources (OER): Adapt and Create OER

Learn how to find and use open education resource (OER) materials in teaching and learning.

Adapt and Create Open Educational Resources

Resources for editing and developing OER

One of the most appealing features of OER is the opportunity to customize content for courses and learning goals. Why adapt an OER?

Consider these possibilities:

Address a particular teaching style or learning style Add material contributed by students or material suggested by students
Adjust for a different grade or course level Translate the material into another language
Address diversity needs Correct errors or inaccuracies
Meet a cultural, regional, or national preference Update the book with current information
Make the material more accessible for people with disabilities Add more media or links to other resources
